Peaches, peaches, peaches...

Peach preserves, peach jam, frozen peaches, peach juice... My girlfriend Michelle, and I spent about 5 hours doing peaches. It was fun. I am hooked now. I just have to get all the stuff to waterbath can! There is something fun and rewarding about doing the things we are asked to do for our families home storage!!!

They look awesome!!! Yum-o! It is a fun skill to learn - it is such a dying skill and so important to keep up. This week I did tomatoes and chicken & pinto beans. (My dad gave my sister and I each a pressure canner for our birthdays and we finally broke them out.) We had so many peaches last year that we still have them, so, we are skipping them this year to do more labor intensive pears - we will do them next week. Oh, my sister and I started a new blog (there is a link on my sidebar) and it has our tomato canning adventure on it.

Happy canning!

Kary - shoot me an email mmsimpson@cox.net - for some reason I am not finding yours -I know you changed it a while back and I must not have updated it. I have a couple questions about your new garden. No need to post this comment! ;)

Your canning procedure looks much neater & organized than my projects. Did you cheat & clean up before you took these pictures?

That looks like a lot of FUN work. I need to learn to start doing some of that stuff. I'm not sure when I'm coming for sure but I don't have your e-mail or anything. My number is 831-393-0611 and my e-mail is e_hoopes@yahoo.com. You can call or e-mail or whatever and we'll have to get together when I'm there. I would love it!

Hi there,
Thought I'd stop in and actually say something this time. You have such a lovely family and a lovely blog for that matter! :-) One of these days I will tone down my blogging and journal all the fun stuff in my life instead of just the serious stuff. And maybe I'll get my camera fixed too, so I can go back to posting pics again... yeah that would be good! Anyway, nice to "meet" you,
Blessings,
Kerrie Chamberlain
(Josh's wife!) :-)

I agree about the pictures...looks to clean! My kitchen looks like a bomb hit it while I'm canning!
Do you use the skins for something?

I do use the skins for the compost pile. i actually saved the peach pits to do peach trees for christmas. I am all about utilizing everything these days!

I am so impressed with what you guys did. WOW! I can't wait until I have the chance to be in our own home again so I can do that stuff. My sister-in-law made a ton of strawberry freezer jam today and I was so sad for me cuz I couldn't do it too. Great job, it all looks so yummy and beautiful.
